Surfable all year. Spring to fall no wetsuit needed but during winter. Recommended wind for kitesurfing is wind coming from W, WNW and NW . There is Thermal wind at Fener, Turkey. Good winds all year round. Here you will find the most wind in the area, since the wind gets accelerated. Best in NW and W. There was wind every afternoon I went (August). A local told me it's not as reliable from September. Wind usually blows from NW and NNW on the spot. The best moments to come to Fener, Turkey are May, June, July and August .
Beach and Tide Conditions
Kitesurfing conditions do not depend on Tide on this spot. Fener, Turkey is a Flat spot. The launching/landing area is reported to be of Small size. The main beach indicated is reserved for windsurfers (and sunbathers). There is a small, narrow, sandy beach just round the headland which lies West of the main beach. Not many sunbathers or swimmers, even in August, though some so you need to take care. Though beach is small, launch and landing are straightforward. Local school even teaches from this beach, but it isn't ideal for beginners. Flat to choppy water. The small kitesurfing beach which is just North of the Kemer beach has a shallow area going out in a semi-circle approx 70m. Only on strong westerlies some nice waves can build up. Open sea conditions and with main wind direction in summer being NNW to NW you won't reach a beach for hours if anything goes wrong. The local kite/windsurf school which operates at the main Kemer beach told me they keep a look-out till 6pm and send a rescue boat for Euro 20 (you could try haggling). Tell the school that you're kiting on the next beach, so they know. They can't see the kiters, only the ones that are in problems when they are drifting by.
